FRESH NEW MEXICAN FLAVOUR FOR SUMMER FROM THE WHOLE MIX

Award-winning new Kiwi food brand The Whole Mix has released a new Mexican Coleslaw with Corn Chips just in time for summer.

Perfect for cooks who want to spend time enjoying the summer and less time in the kitchen, the new Mexican Coleslaw with Corn Chips adds to the existing salad and stir-fry range and taps into the growing demand from food lovers for quality, fresh convenience foods.

With no artificial flavours or colours this new salad provides a delicious and creative complement to wraps, nachos, tacos or an easy weeknight meal.  The new Mexican Coleslaw combines crisp, fresh locally grown red and green cabbage, capsicum, red onion and coriander and comes with crunchy corn chips and a delicious chipotle dressing.

The Whole Mix Managing Director, Ross Kane says “We aim to provide innovative, delicious products to make people’s lives healthier and easier. We’re conscious of ensuring our selection includes delicious flavours for those embracing a plant-based vegan or vegetarian lifestyle. Our range also caters for cooks who are time poor. All our recipes are developed in New Zealand to excite Kiwi taste buds, tapping into flavours foodies really want and ensuring they’re full of fresh, natural, healthy goodness.”

While The Whole Mix is now well recognised on supermarket shelves, its first products were only introduced last year including Grab and Go Salads, Snack Pot salads and Spiralised Vegetable noodles which won the  Supreme Award at the  NZ Food Awards in 2018 as well as a Special Award for Outstanding New Product at the Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards that year.

Launched by Marton-based Spiers Foods, The Whole Mix product range is growing at around 60% per annum. Ross says “Growth in the local food market is coming from consumers seeking out convenience without sacrificing meal quality, nutritional value or sustainability alongside ‘ready to eat’ convenience. The bagged salad category is enjoying exceptional growth fuelled by the emergence of products such as ours on the back of consumer demand for fresh, healthy convenience products”.

Until 2018 Spiers Foods had primarily focused on producing and marketing fresh salads and fresh-cut vegetables for the supermarket deli serve-over and food service customers. The launch of The Whole Mix has prompted the company to expand its fresh vegetable growing capacity close to its Marton factory to ensure continuous supply of fresh, quality vegetables. Spiers Foods employs 80 staff producing 70 product lines including fresh salads and cut vegetables.

The new Mexican Coleslaw with Corn Chips joins other products in the range; Japanese Miso Coleslaw, Vietnamese Coleslaw and Rainbow Stir-Fry with Beetroot Noodles which are all widely available at supermarkets throughout New Zealand.

The Whole Mix bagged Coleslaw and Stir-Fry Range is widely available throughout NZ with an RRP $5.99
