In 2019 we undertook a media relations campaign to promote the 2019 NZ Champions of Cheese Awards. This PR campaign ran over a period of nine months and included the announcement of the Awards, Call for Entry, announcement of medal results and the promotion of 26 trophy champions.

PR Results

  • We received more than 40 media stories across a variety of media including television news, radio, newspaper, magazines and online.

  • Reach was in excess of one million people.

  • Media highlights included; TV One Breakfast News, three interviews on The Edge Radio Breakfast Show, Radio NZ, NZ Herald and FMCG Business.

The NZ Specialty Cheesemakers own the NZ Champions of Cheese Awards. Their Awards logo was dated and the words 'Cheese Awards' were not prominent. We briefed a graphic designer to refresh the logo.


  • The new logo was launched for the 2018 NZ Champions of Cheese Awards.

  • It was modern with an artisan feel and incorporated a cheese graphic with 'Cheese Awards' featuring prominently.

  • The colours of master logo of pale gold and black complemented the NZ Specialty Cheesemakers Association brand.

  • Individual medals translated for use for product stickers and were colour coded to gold, silver and bronze with champion logo award stickers a combination of black and gold.




Each year we organise a Gala Dinner for the NZ Champions of Cheese Awards.

2019 Awards Event Results

  • Nearly 300 attendees, including cheesemakers, media, judges and sponsors.

  • The menu featured winning cheeses from the 2019 Awards. The menu was matched to sponsors product from Delta Wines and Good George Brewery.

  • We organised photography which are widely shared in publicity and social media.

  • We prepared the AV presentation highlighting 26 trophy winners.

  • Over 40 media stories were gained promoting winners including recipe features, a news stories on TV One Breakfast, NZ Herald, NZ House & Garden, The Edge Radio, Radio NZ, Gisborne Herald, Timaru Herald, Otago Daily Times, FMCG Business, Hospitality Business and more….
