Auckland Harbourside Dining in a Luxury Igloo

Auckland, Thursday 11 April 2019: Take the sting out of the cooler weather by ‘Dining Under the Stars’ in an exclusive luxury igloo at Auckland’s award-winning Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill.In a New Zealand-first Harbourside has installed a dining igloo on its terrace, available exclusively for diners over winter. This luxurious, warm igloo is resplendent with a chandelier, fairy lights, floor rugs, heating and comfortable dining chairs.  Guests to the igloo can enjoy a special ‘Dining Under the Stars’ degustation four or eight course menu while star gazing and taking in the magical night vista across Auckland harbour. Bookings can be made for groups of four or up to eight people.Diners have a choice of dishes on the comprehensive four-course menu which appeals to a broad selection of appetites. Freshly shucked Bluff Oysters, Sashimi and Sushi are choices on this special menu, along with Grilled Queensland Black Tiger Prawns and Grass-fed Eye Fillet and Seared Duck Breast. The four course menu is $125, add $95 for wine matches or $155 for Champagne plus wine matches.The Ultimate Seafood Degustation is an eight-course feast guaranteed to wow every seafood lover. Bluff Oysters, Clams, Paua, John Dory and Snapper are among the catch on offer on this special menu until the end of May. Diners will enjoy six courses featuring seafood including; Hapuka Carpaccio with fresh lemon, extra virgin olive oil and crushed roasted coriander seeds, Grilled Queensland Black Tiger Prawns with whipped avocado, mango, lime, sorrel and tobiko and Seared Atlantic Scallops with butter-poached scampi, crispy chicken skin, cauliflower puree and pink grapefruit. White Chocolate Cheesecake served with mixed berries, raspberry gel and sorbet and lemon foam is on offer for desert before finishing with a selection of NZ Cheese served with quince paste, walnut toast and water crackers. The eight-course seafood degustation menu is $165, add $95 for wine matches or $155 for wine and Champagne.Both menus come with the option of choosing carefully selected wine and Champagne matches. Legendary Mum Champagne has visited its cellar to offer Champagne back to the 2008 vintage. Lovers of the finest French Champagne will enjoy 2008 Mumm RSRV Blanc de Noirs, 2012 Mumm RSRV Blanc de Blancs and 2012 Mumm Millésimé.
